1. Purpose
Ctrl is committed to building respectful, meaningful, and mutually beneficial relationships with Indigenous peoples, businesses, and communities across the regions where we operate. This policy outlines our commitments in workforce inclusion, supplier engagement, cultural awareness, training, and community support.
2. Workforce Representation & Metrics
2.1 Tracking Representation
Ctrl will maintain internal metrics regarding the percentage of our workforce that voluntarily self-identifies as Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit, or Métis). These metrics will be updated annually.
2.2 Inclusive Hiring Practices
Ctrl will actively seek to increase Indigenous representation across technical, operational, engineering, and leadership roles through open recruitment, partnerships, and community outreach.
3. Indigenous Vendor Procurement
3.1 Identification & Verification
Ctrl will identify and verify Indigenous-owned vendors through recognized certification bodies (e.g., CCAB, ITAC) or direct confirmation from communities.
3.2 Vendor Engagement & Spend Tracking
- A portion of Ctrl’s procurement strategy will prioritize Indigenous-owned suppliers for equipment, services, logistics, training, and field operations.
- We will track and report annual spending on Indigenous vendors to support transparency and continuous improvement.
4. Diversity, Cultural Awareness & Training
4.1 Employee Training
Ctrl will provide diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) training to all employees, including:
- Indigenous cultural awareness
- Reconciliation-focused best practices
- Conduct guidelines for work near Indigenous lands
- Anti-discrimination and respectful workplace requirements
Training will be refreshed annually and included in onboarding for new hires.
5. Indigenous Content & Engagement Policies
5.1 Respect for Indigenous Rights & Lands
- Ctrl acknowledges Indigenous rights, cultural practices, and traditional territories.
- Operational planning will include engagement with relevant communities when work occurs on or near Indigenous lands.
5.2 Project-Specific Protocols
Projects that intersect with Indigenous land use or cultural considerations will include:
- Consultation with affected communities
- Adherence to local cultural and environmental protocols
- Clear communication channels with Indigenous leadership
- Shared decision-making where appropriate
6. Training, Capacity Building & Employment Support
6.1 Skills Development
Ctrl supports training and capacity-building initiatives that encourage Indigenous participation in:
- Drone operations
- Remote sensing
- GIS and geospatial technologies
- Data processing and analysis
- Field operations and safety
6.2 Internship & On-the-Job Training
Where feasible, Ctrl will offer internships, mentorships, and employment pathways for Indigenous youth and adults interested in technology and infrastructure careers.
7. Indigenous Workforce Development Sponsorship
Ctrl will provide sponsorship and support for Indigenous-led workforce development programs such as:
- Technical training and certification programs
- Drone operator licensing (RPAS)
- STEM education initiatives
- Safety and field operations training
- Scholarships for youth interested in renewable energy, geospatial, or technical fields
This includes in-kind contributions, technology access, and direct funding where appropriate.
8. Community & Initiative Sponsorship
Ctrl is committed to supporting Indigenous initiatives and community programs through:
- Sponsorship of community events and cultural activities
- Support for land stewardship and environmental monitoring initiatives
- Partnerships on youth engagement, safety programs, or renewable energy projects
- Collaboration on technology access and capacity building
9. Accountability & Reporting
Ctrl will review this policy annually and provide internal reporting on:
- Workforce representation
- Spending on Indigenous-owned vendors
- Training completion rates
- Community partnership outcomes
